The Treasury Department
Finances are an integral part of the ministry of the laity. Local church finances are handled by members of the congregation elected to the treasury department. The work of the treasury department includes: receiving tithes, offerings and other income; banking all receipts; sending a financial report to the Ontario Conference every month; providing a financial report to the board every month; preparing annual budgets; issuing official income tax receipts for the year to each donor in February; paying all board-approved bills related to the operations of the local church; preparing semi-annual Public Service Bodies’ Harmonized Sales Tax Rebate forms, and attending annual Conference training seminars.
As Jesus looked up, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. Luke 21:1
